About Us
mission Statement
The mission of Mercer Landmark Inc. is to make a difference by providing profitable solutions that keep agricultural producers and communities growing.
Who We Are
Mercer Landmark is a farmer-owned cooperative with over 300 employees and 20+ locations throughout northwest Ohio. Our team is fully equipped to provide customers with the industry knowledge and expertise they need to make smart, profitable decisions for their operation. Our continuous investment in our people, facilities and technology has allowed us to expand our offerings, provide the best service and solutions for our customers and help contribute to our mission to safely and effectively Feed the World.
What is a Cooperative?
The agricultural cooperative system brings tremendous value to the American farmer. Originally created to give farmers alternative sources for purchasing inputs and gaining market access across the country, cooperatives have been very successful in leveraging a larger combined footprint, and in turn, reducing costs and increasing profitability to the American farmer. One of the unique aspects of the cooperative system is that the customer is also the owner. The owners elect a board of directors to act in good faith on their behalf.
MemberShips
Agricultural cooperatives help producers assure markets and supplies, achieve economies of scale, and gain market power through jointly marketing, bargaining, processing, and purchasing supplies and services. What started as a small group of Ohio farmers has grown into a thriving co-op reaching across Darke, Defiance, Mercer, Paulding and Van Wert Counties in Northwest Ohio.

We do what’s in the best interest of the member vs. in the interest of the business. The board’s purpose is to represent the members and to keep Mercer Landmark profitable so it can continue to meet members’ needs. If we are financially successful, the members are financially rewarded through patronage.
Annually, the co-op board determines how much of the profits must be retained for the future growth and success of the cooperative. The remaining profits are distributed to the members as patronage. Each member’s share of the patronage is based upon his/her purchases from the co-op. The co-op board determines what percentage of the patronage is paid in cash and what percentage is paid in additional ownership in the co-op (called “equity”).
